When I left home to go to Art school in California, I thought I might be a musician. After playing in a number of bands, and even a Javanese Gamelan for years, I had no idea that I would begin photographing musicians for twenty-five years, or that my pictures would be in books and exhibitions, or that I would someday become the Chair of a Photography and Imaging program at a College.  I always hoped that I would find people who were as curious, passionate and inquisitive as I was.  It was through work, and not searching, that I found them.
