Kate Carter

(1946-1984) Kate came to MPW for the resident program in 1976, after teaching photography and journalism in college for five years.  She joined the faculty the following spring becoming co-director of the Residence Program bringing to the Workshop a delicate presence and sensitivity toward people while creating inviting spaces throughout the Rockport campus.  Her students responded instantly to her warmth and generous caring. Her often high key photographs showed a deep concern for the elusive quality of light.
